Monday Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of paying attention to what’s going on both inside us and around us in the present moment, and it is known to help reduce stress and anxiety, support self-awareness, and help people process difficult or challenging thoughts (Mind 2025).
Since 2020, we have run “Monday Mindfulness”, a weekly opportunity to practice Mindfulness online on Mondays from 12.30pm – 1.00pm. The sessions are hosted by our Wellbeing Practitioner, Eleanor Gillott, and take place on Zoom.
If you’d like to join our group, please email Eleanor, or visit our Events page to register for an upcoming session.
Monday Mindfulness is open to anyone of any faith or none, but if you’d like to know more about our Christian reasons for running the group, you can find out more here.
“I find having a definite space to stop, the safe space that the group creates, and the opportunities to learn more techniques really helpful.”
Make a donation
“Remembering that sense of honouring the space I am in and allowing this, and remembering self compassion… All sessions have helped to support my stress and anxiety.”
We are pleased to be able to offer Monday Mindfulness for free, but we would be grateful if you would consider making a donation or becoming a regular giver to Leeds Sanctuary so that we can continue to run these sessions for anyone who would like to come.
Resources
We share recorded Meditations which can be accessed any time, to complement the Monday Mindfulness sessions or as an alternative if you can’t make it to the group.
You can also listen to a podcast conversation sharing the value of Mindfulness and practicing it in our daily lives.
Accessibility and Safeguarding
We recognise that not everyone is comfortable using digital technologies, and Zoom is subject to regular updates. If you’d like to try Monday Mindfulness but need some help with technology, please contact Emily Smith, our Communications and Digital Lead, and we may be able to help you.
We believe that Safeguarding is at the heart of Sanctuary, and so we have put a great deal of thought into how we create safe spaces online. When you are first admitted to the Zoom meeting room, we will ask you to keep your camera switched on and say “hello”, though you are welcome to switch this off once the session has started. On occasion, we may record the audio from the mindfulness practice to share online at a later time, but we will not share video footage or audio from any discussions.
