Social Justice Lunches – What is Activism?

Following the success of Intersections in February, and a follow-up listening lunch, we are delighted to announce the launch of our Social Justice Lunches.

Social Justice Lunches will be a quarterly gathering for local citizens and communities, working together with those in authority to be agents of change for a better Leeds. We will share tips, encourage each other, learn and offer support, while building a network with the potential for future collaboration.

Our first Lunch will feature guest speaker Becky Howcroft, a community organiser from the Leeds Chapter of Citizens UK. Becky has a wealth of experience and knowledge in what healthy and successful activism looks like, and she’ll be helping us answer the question, “What is Activism?”

This Lunch will be held at Mill Hill Chapel in City Square (LS1 5EB), and we will be providing lunch, so if you’d like to come, it’s important that you book through Ticket Source and advise us of any dietary requirements.

We are delighted to be able to share this event with you free of charge, however there will be opportunity during the event for you to donate to our work so that we can continue to offer these reflective spaces for as many people as possible.

At Leeds Sanctuary, we value the mental and physical wellbeing of every individual. With this in mind, a Mental Health First Aider (Anna) will be available for a conversation if any challenging topics arise during the session.

Like many organisations, we like to take photos and sometimes short videos so that we can showcase the work we’re doing in our various digital and print communications. If you would prefer not to be in any photos, please let us know by email or during the session, and we will ensure that you are not featured.
