In 2021 the Leeds Craftivists are focusing on Climate Change ahead of COP26 in November. In May talked about the tricky issue of money!
We heard from Dr Mark Davis about the power of money and its connection to Climate Change. We learned about CMIs (community municipal investments) which invest in local green projects, one is coming to Leeds soon. We redesigned £5 notes to send to our bank to ask them to invest in green portfolios and stop funding fossil fuels.
The craft
If we aren’t able to join us on the night you can still get involved! We were redesigning the £5 to send banks a message about what we think money should be used for: investing in a sustainable future.
We will use symbols and highlight people who inspire us. On mine I drew wind turbines, birds, Greta and David Attenborough.
We are sending them to our current bank or a bank we left if we have made the shift to ethical banking.
Use what is useful but also use your own words and emotions to inform what you write.
