You asked for it – warmer weather Sketch Walk!

Following the success of “Night Vision” back in February, we are delighted to share that we’ll be co-hosting another sketch walk later this month with colleagues at Leeds Church Institute and Sketch Club Social.

The walk will begin outside our office on 43 The Calls (LS2 7EY) at 5.30pm on Thursday 25 May, with Yusef and Clifford leading us on our walk along the River Aire and around Leeds Minster. We will be reflecting on the theme of ‘The Gifts of the City’ as we approach Pentecost. Wear suitable clothing for the weather conditions on the day; we encourage you to wear layers and bring along something waterproof if you are planning to sit down whilst sketching!

Anna Bland, who is one of the hosts of the walk, said “We are really excited to be looking at the city with fresh eyes, seeing the many gifts that surround us here in Leeds City Centre. In the week of Pentecost it feels a good time to connect into the ancient Christian traditions of appreciation and gratitude for the gifts we have in our context.”

All art materials will be provided and we really mean it when we say no experience is necessary.

Refreshments will be provided during the event, so please do let us know if you have any dietary requirements.

Head to Eventbrite to book your space on the course.

Additional information:

If you’re walking to The Calls from Leeds City Centre, our office is approximately 5 minutes walk from Leeds Bus Station (directions can be found here) or 10 minutes walk from Leeds Train Station (find a route here). There is also on-street parking. The Calls is a cobblestone road with uneven paving flags; if you would like to attend but have concerns about how accessible the route might be for you, please contact Anna for more information.

At Leeds Sanctuary, we value the mental and physical wellbeing of every individual. With this in mind, a Mental Health First Aider (Anna) will be available for a conversation if any challenging topics arise during the session.

Like many organisations, we like to take photos and sometimes short videos so that we can showcase the work we’re doing in our various digital and print communications. If you would prefer not to be in any photos, please let us know by email or during the session, and we will ensure that you are not featured.
